Populated with intriguing characters who continue to grow and develop, it is fun to see familiar faces in new scenarios. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What he finds is someone trying to kill her, and this great Sheba looking lion taking up residence in the airport bathroom. I believe this was the 5th book in the series and I will go start back at the beginning. Engaging banter, a strong emotional connection, and steamy love scenes.
Her creation of a hidden group of creatures such as demons, vampires, werewolf's, fairies, witches, etc is both romantic as well as steamy hot. When not writing, she enjoys horseback riding, playing with her pets, identifying dogs from photos of their underbellies, and most of all reading things someone else had to agonize over. There is in fact a scene where Kitty looks at the melodrama unfolding and thinks just that, that everyone is behaving like soap stars, and its ironically accurate to the entire book. I was worried because the main cast of characters that had been present in the series wasn't in this one but I really shouldn't have been concerned. I think Kitty was a very strong character, maybe not so much as some others that jump in the face of danger at any given moment, but she was able to hold her own and handle herself at most times. Very minimal damage to the cover including scuff marks, but no holes or tears.
The problem with this is obvious--the character's are flat and predictable, so the conflicts are flat and predictable. Instead, he's captivated by this vulnerable, yet strong southern beauty. They became popular and now she is found everywhere and it couldn't happen to a better author. That is, until a near-tragedy strikes and Kitty discovers she has abilities. When Kitty heads to Vegas to find out more about her father, it's his sexy, seductive second-in-command or baas of the Pride, Marcus Stewart, who commands her attention. She has a mother who's plans have never included a child,a father who she never knew and is dead, and grandparents whom were all the parents she ever truely needed.
But the next thing Regina knows, her friends have got her laced into a shiny black corset, tight leather pants, and a sexy pair of stilettos. She gets hurt in a car wreck and all of a sudden she is standing on all fours. I'm going to keep this short, because I want to move on from this paranormal romance with minimal fuss. So my first caution to readers about this book is, if you are thinking of reading based on it's value of fitting into the series you are going to be disapointed right off the bat. They seemed a little too 2D instead of 3D.
